How this child came to us?
The social mobilizer was doing his regular outreach at Lalitha Bagh and identified Prasanna playing with the neighborhood children. Every time he visits the girl was at home playing around the streets with the other children playing and skipping the school. Then the social mobilizer approached her mother and uncle explained the consequences of children on the streets and asked to join in the home for child’s education. Child’s parent opposed to join but we continued our approach and involved Basthi leaders and then joined the child in ASRITHA Girl’s Home on 07-11-2011.
Family Background:
Prasanna family migrated from Thalakonda Pally Village, Mahabubnaagar Dist to Hyderabad in search for livelihood and stayed beside Uppuguda railway stations in a rented hut. Prasanna actually has both parents but her father was habituated to alcohol and beat mother and child daily. He even sends her mother and three children for domestic works. Then her parents got separated and he remarried and ignored the caring of children. Prasanna has one elder sister and one younger sister siblings.
After coming to our home
Prasanna was interested in education, but she drop out her schooling in 4th standard and worked as Domestic labourer. As soon as we provide admission in our Girl’s home, we provided bridge course for 9 months and mainstreamed in 6th standard. Apart from education, we also make her participated in cultural programs and events to bring out her confidence and leadership skills. She is good in leadership skills and especially is very creative in art and craft such as making greetings card, dances and theatre.
During her 10th standard she scored 73 %. As the girl is interested in to become a nurse and chose multipurpose health Worker course in intermediate secured 86%. Based on the merits she got free seat in Osmania Nursing Hospital, Afzalgunj studying General Nursing Mid Wifery.
Present Status of the Child :
She has completed General Nursing Mid-wifery in Osmania General Hospital, Afzalgunj. She has been selected as Govt. Staff Nurse (Trainee) in Osmania General Hospital and inspired other children.
