How the child came to us:

Our social mobilizer on doing outreach at the Singareni colony and saw the child was playing on the street.  We were to the girl’s home which was manually constructed hut with tar sheets and met her grandmother and aunt and enquired on the education and financial conditions of the family. We interacted with the girl’s grandmother and asked to join in our Child Care institution for girl’s education and protection which would help towards her development. She agreed and admission to send this child, and gave her admission at ASRITHA Rainbow Home. She has a younger sister.

Family background

Her family belongs from Kalakurthi Mandalam, Charakonda Village, Mahabubnagar district and started living at Singareni Colony in a small manually constructed tar sheet hut. During the rainy and winter season the family faced problems. The parents of the child died in the childhood and grandmother took to arms and raising them. Only one thing we know that this child is staying with her grandmother and her aunt who is everything to them. Her grandmother and her aunt is works as laborers and take care of children. After admission in our home her grandmother passed away and started goes to aunt house during the holidays.

After coming to our home:

We provided admission in our home and given bridge course for 9th months and then mainstreamed 6th class in regular schooling. In the earlier the girl was silent, worried and missed her grandmother then we engaged with her peer group in activities that help her emotionally stable. The girl is suffered few health issues and we admitted in the Gandhi Hospital and underwent to treatment. In the process the girl often depressed and refused in the medical intervention then we continued counsel the girl and encouraged towards hope in life. To continue her education we requested the authorities and provided admission in KGBV Ibrahimpatnam for her 10th standard. Our staff followed up and observed that Srilatha often bullied by her classmates on her height. The girl was into depression we brought the girl back to ASRITHA girl’s home and took psychological support from Nilofer Hospital. The girl continued her education from our home and finished her 10th standard in 2016.

We are happy to share that the Srilatha passed 10th with a percentage of 7.2.
